Biography

Stephen Fairchild was born 1 March 1723 in Kent, Connecticut. [1] His birth has also been given as 1 March 1724 in Stratford, Connecticut. [2]He passed away 15 January 1811 in Middletown, Pennsylvania. [2]

"For many years this Stephen was confused with Stephen born 1725 Stratford, son of Samuel and Dinah, and who married Lavinia Beardsley. Only 2 and 1/2 years separate their births. Some of this Stephen's children have been given to the other Stephen, for example, Agur.

Stephen Fairchild's name appears in the Stratford land records, for in 1749 and in 1751 his mother gave him land. Most of his brothers either sold or quit-claimed to Stephen their share in the land and buildings. Stephen kept the homestead in the parish or Stratfield, with part of the land being in Stratford and part in Fairfield, until his mother died in 1753. In 1757 he sold most of his land, and in 1758 he is found in Kent, CT. for the sale of the remaining Stratford land.

Donald Lines Jacobus says that Stephen may have gone to Kent since his sister, Ruth, had already moved there. Stephen registered the birthdates of the family with the town clerk in Kent. So far as is known, all of Stephen's children grew to adulthood. The names of Ezra, Abraham, Levi, Stephen, Agur and Samuel appear on Kent land records."[3]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Stephen by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Stephen:

Fairchild-193 and Fairchild-144 appear to represent the same person because: This is the same parents. Born on the same day in the same place. Died on the same day in the same place. It is beyond my ability to imagine why this proposed merge was postponed by "unmatched merge" status previously. There is nothing which distinguishes these two profiles one from the other.
