His death notice reads, "At Stratford, very suddenly, on the 11 inst. Hon. Robert Fairchild, aged 60 years 6 months. Judge Fairchild has been long known to the citizens of Connecticut, as one of our most active and distinguished public men. He was formerly Marshall of the District; was one of the framers of the Constitution; and subsequently Chief Judge of the County Court in Fairfield County. He has frequently been a member of both Houses of our Legislature and was at one session, President of the Senate."[1]
His inventory was completed on 21 September 1835 in Stratford.[2]
In 1836, his estate distribution was set out to Maria Fairchild (eldest daughter), Robert George Fairchild (eldest son), Emeline Fairchild, Julia Fairchild, Frederick Fairchild, Cornelia Fairchild, and Henry Fairchild.[3]
