Nina Fairchild was said to have died in the influenza epidemic that swept NZ in 1918, but I am now not so sure. Her death notice was in the Dominion Post, Wellington, NZ Aug 2 1920. It states that she died on 31 July at 35 Hobson Street. An obituary in Free Lance of 4 Aug 1920, Social Gossip section, states that her death was not a surprise as she had been ill for some time. As at 21/05 2019 I have ordered a copy of her death certificate to see if it sheds clearer information. I have a photocopy of her marriage record. Her father had died in an accident on the boat he was master of only a week earlier and so her sister Annie signed as witness to the marriage instead of her father, Captain John Fairchild. The marriage was in Wellington and I am fairly sure, but not certain, that it was at St Peter's Church, The Terrace, Wellington.
Nina's death notice is in The Dominion, Wellington NZ, 4 August 1920 front page. It states that she died at 35 Hobson Street on 31 July 1920. An obituary notice in the Social Gossip column of the Free Lance (Wellington section) Ref: Pearce says that she had been ill for some time.
