Benjamin was born in 1808, the son of Isaac & Lucy (Kilbourne) Fairchild. He married Mary Ann Westbrook, and they had nine children. They settled at Vergennes Township, Kent Co., Michigan.[1]
In the 1850 Census of Vergennes Benjamin Fairchild Sr. was listed as a farmer 42 with his wife Mary 37 both born in Canada with their children Rebecca 17, Benjamin Jr. 12 both born in Canada, William 9, Edward 7, Julia 5, Elvira 3 all born in Michigan.[2]
In the 1870 Census of Vergennes Benjamin Fairchild was listed as a farmer 63 with his wife Mary 57 both born in Canada with their children Francis 29, Elena 25, Elvira 23, Asahel 17 and Mary E. 13 all born in Michigan.[3]
In the 1880 Census of Vergennes Benjamin Fairchild was listed as a farmer born in Canada 72 with his wife Mary born in Canada 69 and children Francis W. 40 and Julia E. 35, both born in Michigan.[4]
Benjamin died 24 Mar 1887 in Vergennes Twp, Kent, Michigan.[5]
