Have you found newspapers from the area with George and his family name? I have a George Francis Fairchild in Chautauqua County, and I found information from the Chautauqua Institute about one of his children and something she published. Find any organizations or institutions and ask for help from the town or librarian genealogist. Find the church they belonged to!

Search "Jean Fairchild Gilmore blog" to find all 3 of her books and one by Timothy Marsh Fairchild free and easy to enlarge the print. I corresponded with her from 1977 to 2000 and I believe she died in 2002. We sent Christmas cards to one another and she considered bequeathing her research to me. She had children who were adopted and they had no interest in her genealogy. She was a foster child when her parents died while she was young, so she was quite curious.

Keep tracing people with Find-a-grave. There may be death certificates. There may be more information than you might expect. My 4th great grandmother, Lucy Ann Losee Fairchild was from Oneida before she moved to Cherry Creek and joined the Free Will Baptist Church, which was abolitionist.
