Peter Fairclough went to Red House School in Norton, Stockton on Tees and then to St Peter's School in York. He later obtained a place in Keble College Oxford where he studied history and his father had been a scholar. After graduating from Oxford, Peter worked with his father in the family antiquarian book shop in Yarm.
There are few references to Peter on the web as he died before "social media" such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter et al came of age. Nevertheless, some memories of him are recorded for posterity and fun at [1].

Peter is portrayed as Hugh Burlington in Beyond Enkription, the first novel in the autobiographical spy series called The Burlington Files, based on the life of his younger brother, Bill Fairclough aka Edward Burlington. Peter was also passionate about The Who https://www.thewho.com and corresponded frequently with Pete Townsend. He was an ardent fan of the rock band.
Indeed, on one occasion during his "stretch" at Oxford University, he rigged up the hall to be used for sitting the exams with loudspeakers. "My Generation" blared out at an ear shattering volume during one exam which was postponed for another day.
It became obvious to the authorities who the culprit was. Peter was duly admonished for his egregious unruly behaviour but managed to see through his three year stretch to collect a third.
