SATURDAY, JULY 13 1901. Obituary noticesDeath of M. Faithfull.
We regret to announce the death at the age 66 of Mr. M Faithfull, of Hospital Creek.
Mr. Faithfull enjoyed good health until about 4 months ago, when he became affected
by abscess of the liver. He was treated several times for the complaint, but gradually
grew worse until his death, which took place last Monday afternoon at about 2 o’clock
at Newmerella, at the residence of his son-in-law, Mr. D Price.
Mr. Faithfull, who was born Berkshire England, came with his parents to Victoria,
when only a lad. He settled down on the other side of Melbourne, but subsequently found his way into Gippsland. He resided near Sale for over 20 years, and came from there to Hospital Creek, of which district he was the pioneer, having been the first to select land there, he lived at Hospital creek for about 16 years, and had charge of the Nowa Nowa Hotel for a considerable time.
Although Mr. Faithfull seldom visited Orbost he was well known to a number of the
residents of the town, and was deservedly respected by all. Mr. Faithfull leaves behind him a widow, 2 sons, & four daughters. among these, Mrs. Hall of Tildesley, and Mrs. Price of Nuwmerella, and no doubt the best of Orbost people.
The funeral took place on Tuesday afternoon when a fair number of the friends of the Deceased followed his remains to the Orbost Cemetery.
