Biography

Ebenezer was born in 1729. He was the son of Nathaniel Fales and Elizabeth Atwood. He passed away in 1797.

It has been recorded that he left his boyhood home sometime between 1737 and 1750 (after father died), and at some point in that period, appeared in Norwich CT. The next we hear of him, he is a young man of 23 in Norwich Marrying into the family of Deacon Joseph Bingham, a prominent Norwich family. His first marriage to Ruth Bingham feb. 21, 1751 yielded 3 children, Ruth, Ebenezer, and Elizabeth. [Ebenezer (the son) was killed June 17, 1775 in the Battle of Charlestown, and his name is on the monument located at Bunker Hill.] Ruth died May 22, 1756 and Ebenezer soon married Ruth's sister Esther, and they had 10 more children (see Fales Family Bulletin, Feb 1984, Vol. II, No. 1, p. 9).

Ebenezer, Esther and the children relocated to Charlemont MA sometime after 1756, left descendants in that area, and generated the Fales family that rode the new Erie Canal in 1828 and settled in Western New York. from The Norwich Story as written in Fales Family Bulletin, Vol. 5, No. 2 November 1999.
