Biography

Leonard Henry Falk was the son of Emil H. Falk and Wilhelmina Augusta "Minnie" Wensel/Wenslaff

Leonard had a relationship with Alice Jacqueline Hartman when she was 14-15 and he was 15-16, and she became pregnant. There does not appear to be any record of their marriage, so it is presumed that they did not marry. Alice gave birth to Conrad Robert Norton Falk on 1 March 1935 in Chicago, and raised him likely mostly on her own (with her parents' support). She acknowledged Leonard as the father on both the birth certificate as well as with his last name.

Leonard went on to have another relationship with Mabel Winifred Dullard, and she too became pregnant around the end of 1937. She gave birth to Judy Gale Falk on 14 August 1938. Leonard and Mable were married on 24 February 1940 in Chicago. On 16 January 1943, Mabel gave birth to a son, Walter Falk, but he only lived for one day and passed away on 17 January 1943. According to his obituary he had additional sons as well.

Leonard passed away on 23 May 1980 in La Porte, Indiana. He was interred in New Carlisle Cemetery in New Carlisle, Indiana.

Leonard H. Falk, 62, Route 3, New Carlisle, died at 11:05 a.m. Friday at LaPorte Hospital, after suffering a heart attack at home. He was employed by the Bethlehem Steel Corp., of Chesterton and had lived in New Carlisle for the past 30 years, after coming here from Chicago. He was born there on Oct 25, 1917. On Feb 24, 1940, in Chicago, he Married Mable Dullard, who survives.

Falk was a World War II Army veteran. Also surviving are his mother, Mrs. Minnie Falk of Hudson Lake; a daughter, Mrs. Leon Adnson of Hudson Lake; three sons, Robert Conrad of Hollywood, Calif, Leonard J. Falk of Lanoka Harbor, N.J., and James Falk of Rolling Prairie; 13 grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Elynore Whittler, Mrs. Delores Wolff, and Mrs. Colleta Kaufman, all of Hudson Lake and two brothers, Fred of California and Kenneth of Chicago. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the New Carlisle Community Church, of which he was a member. Officiating will be Rev. Ernest Geist, pastor of the church. Burial will be at the New Carlisle Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the H. C. Amen & Son Funeral Home, New Carlisle.
