There are TWO William Fannins who have been run together as ONE person all over the internet.

William Y. Fannin married Catherine Martin in Greene Co. GA 18 Jan 1807 per marriage book. His father was James Fannin of SC.

Our William Fannin married Nancy Pierce in Greene Co. GA Jan 13, 1800 according to the Greene Co. GA marriage book. However, on the War of 1812 papers for William there is a date said to come from the family Bible which is different. Also, William Wesley Williams states in these military papers of William who died in 1848 in Randolph Co. AL that he married their daughter who was Hester Minerva Fannin.
