Biography

Samuel's birth was registered in the Apr-May-Jun quarter of 1857 in the St Germans district.^[1] He is the son of Samuel Farley and Jane Brooke.

As his father was also called Samuel, his son became known as Thomas.

Thomas was in a military record on 22 April 1874. His service number was 86359.^[4] He was described as being 5' 3" tall, with brown hair and blue eyes.

Thomas's marriage to Jane Lashbrook was registered in the Jul-Aug-Sep quarter of 1880 in the St. Germans district.^[5]

In the 1881 census Thomas (age 23), AB, was recorded as married on "Swift", Vessels, Kent, England.^[6] Also an AB on the Swift in 1881 is Francis NORTON, who had married Thomas' sister Mary Jane FARLEY in 1879. Francis was one of the witnesses to Thomas & Jane's marriage in 1880.

Thomas's death (age 26) was registered in the Apr-May-Jun quarter of 1884 in the Liskeard district.^[7] He died from phthisis and haemoptysis (TB and coughing up blood). ^[8]
