DEATH OF MRS. ARROWSMITH.
One of Barrington's oldest and most respected residents in the person of Mrs. George Arrowsmith passed away in Roma Private Hospital, Gloucester, on 27th ultimo. The deceased lady was only removed to the institution a few days prior to her death. Mrs. Arrowsmith had attained the ripe old age of 80 years and had enjoyed splendid health until about a year ago. Even the day before entering hospital she milked and fed a couple of favourite cows on the farm. Mrs. Arrowsmith was one of the hardy active pioneers who,even in our own district, with regular frequency are passing on. She was a native of Washpool, Stroud, being before marriage Miss Jane Farley, and came with her husband to Barrington, 42 years ago. She has lived in the one home over since. Orange trees grown on her arrival were killed by the exceptionally heavy frosts of the past week or so. Of a motherly, gentle nature Mrs. Arrowsmith was highly thought of by her neighbours and friends and general sympathy is expressed at her demise. A husband two sons (William, Barrington and George, Gloucester) and three daughters (Mesdames Les Smith, Gloucester, Cooper, Sefton, and Willis, Manly) survive, and to them we extend sympathy. Deceased was buried in Barrington cemetery on Tuesday. — Gloucester 'Advocate.'[2]
