Biography

He was probably a Quaker, according to his grandson.

John and Betsy lived in the Montgomery Co., Maryland area & in about 1790 moved . . . to Loudoun Co.,Va., then shortly afterwards, moved to what is now Marion Co.,W. Va. on the Monongahela River in or near Prickett's Fort. Then about 1792, they went up the Monongahela River towards Pittsburgh, Pa. to Ft. Redstone which was just south of Pittsburgh & came down the Ohio River, then south on the Kentucky River to just n.e. of Frankfort, Ky. & settled at Ennis/Innis Station on the Elkhorn Creek, then sometime before 1800, they moved over next door to Shelby Co.,Ky.,
