Services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Eldon Baptist Church for Ivan Harold Farmer, 48 year-old Eldon businessman who died suddenly last Friday evening of a coronary thrombosis.

Mr. Farmer and his wife, who owned and operated the Dairy Queen at Highways 54 and 52 in Eldon for eight years had opened the new season only the week before his death. Tired from being on his feet on the concrete, he had gone home from his business place about 2 p.m. Friday and had started operating a tractor In a field near his home at Highway 52 west of Eldon.

Accompanied by his grandson, Jim, and an older youth, Jack Chapman, he was in the field when he was fatally stricken about 5:45 p.m. The tractor had been stuck but they had succeeded in freeing it. Jack was on another tractor and Mr. Farmer was just walking back to get on his own tractor when he collapsed.

Mr. Farmer, the son of H.L. and Floy (Jackson) Farmer, was born in Camden County July 18, 1910. He was married July 18, 1933, to Grace Adams who survives.

He is also survived by two daughters, Mrs. Stanley Miller of Kansas City and Miss Mary Jo Farmer of the home, a junior at Eldon High School; his father, who lives at Bagnell; one sister, Mrs. Henry T. Carpenter of the Canal Zone; two brothers, Ralph of Connecticut and Howard of Ukiah, Calif., and thre grandchildren, Jim, Christy and Dana Miller.

Mr. Farmer joined the Presbyterian Church in his youth. He also was a member of Barnett Lodge 591 AF & AM; Barnett Chapter 303 Order of the Eastern Star, and the Eldon Chamber of Commerce. He was employed in construction…balance of article missing
