Biography
Hobart Brooks Farquhar:
served in the Boer War 1901
was a barrister, called to the bar at Inner Temple in 1909
Chief Inspector of Audits 1912
Volunteered for service in World War 1, given a commission as 2nd Lieutenant in the 15th Prince of Wales' Own Battalion (Civil Service Rifles) London Regiment, very quickly upgraded to Captain
He was killed in action around the Maistre Line near Villers au Bois
His body was never found, he is named on the Arras memorial.[1]
Hobart was born in 1874. He was the son of Arthur Farquhar and Ellen Rickman. Hobart, son of Arthur Farquhar & Ellen Rickman, was born on 16 April 1874 in Aboyne, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.[2]
In the 1881 census Hobart (age 6), Scholar, was in Aboyne, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.[3]
In the 1891 census Hobart (age 16) was the single nephew of William Rickman in Barkham, Berkshire, England.[4]
In 1904 Hobart married Ida Violet Wolfe-Barry. Hobart's marriage was registered in the Jan-Feb-Mar quarter of 1904 in the St. George Hanover Square district.[5] They had 3 children:

In the 1911 census Hobart (age 36), District Auditor Local Govt Board, was the married head of household in Stafford, Staffordshire, England.[6]
Hobart died in 1916 in France.[7] His memorial is in Arras, Departement du Pas-de-Calais, Nord-Pas-de-Calais, France.
