Bessie Florine Farr was born on September 17, 1894 near Ipava, Illinois on the family farm. She was the daughter of Samuel Farr and Elizabeth Lindsey. She attended McDonough County schools of Camp Creek, McGaughey and Industry. She graduated with the first class from Industry High School in 1914. Bessie was immaculate about her house, dress and food. She always wore a hat and gloves, as all well dressed women of her time did. She married John Edward Grimm on 29 Dec. 1914 in Macomb, Illinois. Bessie recalled that her wedding day was a very muddy day when they made the trip by horses and wagon to Macomb and then back home to the east of Industry Township. During their married years John and Bessie resided in several places first east of Industry, then near Huntsville in Schuyler County, next near Plymouth in Hancock County, then south of Industry, next in Industry itself, on to Macomb, Illinois and finally back to Industry. John was an easy going man, that never got excited about anything; while Bessie was of just the opposite nature. John farmed up to 1936, then he was working as a laborer until 1943, when he and Bessie were employed at Camp Ellis, an U.S. Army camp in Fulton County until after WWII. Then they worked at Haeger Pottery in Macomb until John retired at age 75. Bessie was employed as a saleslady at Newell's Dress Shoppe in Macomb. Her last employment was at the Everly House in Macomb. Both were members of the Macomb Methodist Church. Bessie died in Macomb, Illinois on September 28, 1978.
