Jessie was born in 1895, ^[1] She is the daughter of James Farrand and Ada Smith.

She was baptized 31 July 1895.^[2]

Sister of Ethel Farrand, b 1900.^[3]

At age 15, Jessie was working in the cabinet case trade in Sheffield. Her sisters were Ethel, age 11 and Ada, age 13.^[4]

Jessie Farrand married Harry Duke 15 May 1920 in Sheffield, Yorkshire. She was single, age 24, the daughter of James Farrand, file roller. Harry Duke was age 24, a wheelwright, son of George Henry Duke, grinder.^[5]
