Richard Farrand, the seventh child and fifth son of Richard and Joane (Travis) Farrand, was baptized at St. Michael, Cornhill, London, England on 6 March 1548/9.[1]
Richard attended Trinity College, Cambridge, matricualated Michaelms 1564, received his BA 1569-70, became a Fellow 1572 and received his MA in 1573. His last payment as a Cambridge Fellow was 1580. He had some association with Sir Frances Barrington which would explain why he settled at Hatfield Broad Oak.[1]
Richard married Rebecca Harrison, daughter of Richard Harrison, clerk, vicar of Harlow, Essex and his wife Anne, about 1599. The 1596 will of his aunt Dame Margaret (Travis) Blanke did not mention his wife, although it mentioned spouses of his other siblings. She was still living when he died and probably remarried.[1]
Richard Farrand died a resident of Hatfield Broad Oak, Essex, England, in March of 1613/14. [1]
The will of Richard Farrand of Hatfeild Broadeoke alias Kings Hatfeild, gentleman, was dated 3 Feb and proved 13 March 1613/4. After a typical preamble he left his estate to wife Rebecca and after her decease to his children Francis, Johane, Elizabth, Richard, Anne, Rebecca, William. He named his brothers Docter Farrand, Edmund Farrand and Charles Farrand overseers.[1]
