There are those of the Ferris surname that claim that Richard Ferrar was the father of an Elizabeth (Elizabeth O. Ferris). This is a spurious claim. Richard Ferrar was, for one thing, living in Hamburg in 1618 see Two Lives of Nicholas Ferrar, page 184 https://archive.org/stream/nicholasferrartw00mayouoft#page/184/mode/2up
Richard was considered the black sheep of the family, being a spendthrift.
Richard married an Elizabeth, last name unknown, had a son Richard who died unmarried and a daughter Mary. The Ferrar papers See genealogical chart III immediately following foreword http://www.microform.co.uk/guides/R97513.pdf Page VII of the above Column 5 names the originator of the document, usually the author but sometime.:. the person or institution in whose name the document has been drafted. Surnames, last names, are given as in the document, except. that variants of Ferrar have been 50 standardised, with one exception. Richard, the baby and black sheep cf the second generation, made a paint of spelling his name Farrar. His wife Elizabeth followed his example, and so did his son Richard for much: of the time. Farrar has thus been used always for the mother and father, and whenever appropriate for the son.
