Hello and good morning, My name is Jocelyne Farrell and i am researching my family tree. I got all the way back to a Edward Farrell...born 1800 or 1810 county of sligo and died sept 6 1877 or 1871 in the county of Horton Renfrew, ontario. shows his age to be around 72 years old...no occupation shown, no parents shown. Edward settled on the shores of the Ottawa at Chat Lake in 1837 and ran a stopping and he was also the post master for castleford from June 1, 1859 to 1863. He married Sara Lefurgey in May 27, 1841 in Hull Quebec...other than this i have nothing to show except children etc... If this is part of my research, i would love some feed back, as i have nothing more than this on earlier dates and names.....If this is indeed the Edward that i am looking for, horton has erected a monument called Farrell's Landing, This Edward Farrell was the first to get off at this spot and part of our heritage. Feel free to contact me babinator01hotmail.com.

Thanks

Settling Duties Performed,Reason for Grant on all entries is conversion of the forces

728,Edward Farrell,private,4th DnGd,1 adult male and 1 adult female,and 2 males over 12,years of service 10,country Ireland,located Aug.9,1817,Bathurst,C1 5,formerly located to John Verring,de Watteville,SDP

shows existence and residence of Edward in Lanark county..the land(Concession 1,lot 5)was lived on by his son George and his grandson William..after that it's not known at this time

there is a reference to one Edward Farrell taking up residence in the newly formed Renfrew county about the right time and this may explain his disappearance from any census record from Bathurst twp

Edward served 10 years in the Dragoon Guard. This was the Irish cavalry unit that served mainly in Ireland but also across the Continent, including Waterloo. There are several Edward Farrells in the Guards muster rolls but it's not possible to prove which one he may have been at this time
