Biography

Patrick J. Farrell was born in Farrellton in 1873. He was the son of William Farrell and Sarah Rice. He married Mary Kenny. They moved to Ottawa around 1905.

Patrick John Farrell passed away at his residence, 103 Sherbrorke street, on Tuesday, March 9, 1943, aged 69 years, beloved husband of Mary Kenny.^[1]

Attended by the legion of friends he made during his 38 years' residence in Ottawa, the funeral of Patrick John Farrell was held this morning from his home, 103 Sherbrooke street. Requiem high mass was chanted in St. Mary's church by Rev. Father C. Braceland, assisted by Rev. Father Brownlee. Interment was in Notre Dame cemetery.

Chief mourners included his wife, the former Mary Kenny; his step-mother, Mrs. William Farrell; two daughters, Mrs. David Gibb and Miss Gladys Farrell, both of Ottawa; three sons, Cpl. .William with the R.C.O.C., Ottawa; Bernard, also of Ottawa, and Ronald with the R.C.A.S.C. overseas; two brothers, James of Ottawa, and Francis of Farrellton. Que.; and two sisters, Mrs. Gerald Daly of Chapleau, Ont., and Miss Mollie Farrell of Farrellton.

Floral tributes were received from the R.C.O.C. Bowling League; D.O.S. (A) Branch; employes of International Fibre Board; Auditor-General's Office staff; the staff of the British Ministry of Pensions, and staff of Customs and Excise, Port of Ottawa. ^[2]
