On 18 Jul 1832, Ithamar Farrington, 76, of Livermore, Maine, filed a Revolutionary War pension application. The pension states that he enlisted for a period of eight months in April 1775 in the company of Captain Joseph Guild in the regiment of Colonel Graten and that he was discharged at Cambridge, Massachusetts, the last of December 1775. He re-enlisted in that company in September 1776 and served two months, being discharged at Fairfield, Connecticut. He served two months at Cambridge in December 1777 and January 1778. In 1779, he enlisted and served three months in Captain Smith's company and was discharged at Dorchester Heights in May 1779. In March 1833, he was granted a pension of $55 per annum.[3] He is accepted as a Patriot ancestor by the DAR.[4]
Marriage
On 8 Sep 1781, Ithamer Farrington and Elizabeth Talbot, both of Dedham, Massachusetts, published at Dedham their intention to marry,[5] and they married there on 26 Sep 1781.[6]
Residences
Ithamar and Elizabeth Farrington lived at Dedham, Massachusetts, until about 1798. Ithamar was taxed at Livermore, Maine (then in Massachusetts) in 1798.[7] Ithamar's pension application, filed in 1832, says that they moved to Livermore "about 1799."[8]
Children
Ithamar and Elizabeth (Talbot) Farrington had the following children. They were probably born at Dedham, Massachusetts, but there is no record of the births there. The births were recorded at Livermore, Maine after the Farringtons moved there about 1798 (see the "Residences" section above). The Livermore record is a later transcription of an original that is now lost.[9]
Ithamar Farrington died on 3 Jul 1843, and he is buried at the Moose Hill Cemetery in Livermore Falls, Maine, where his gravestone gives his age at his death as 87.[10][11]
