Patrick Farrington migrated from Ireland to United States.
Biography
Patrick was probably born between 1836 and 1840 (see Notes) in Ireland.
Patrick married Elizabeth Tutle, probably before 1858 (when their first child was born)[1]
and they had at least eight children (see Notes).
In 1860 Patrick (age24), Elizabeth (age 20), and their daughter Margaret (age 2) lived in New Brunswick, Middlesex, New Jersey, United States.[1]
In 1865 Patrick, Elizabeth, and children Margaret (shown as Margot), and Ann lived in New Brunswick, Middlesex, New Jersey, United States.[2]
In 1870 Patrick (age 30), Elizabeth (age 28), and children Margaret (age 12), Ann (age 9), Elizabeth (age 4), and Catharine (age 2) lived in New Brunswick, Middlesex, New Jersey, United States. Patrick's brother Edward (age 35) lived with the family.[3]
There appears to have been one or more family tragedies that claimed the lives of all four of Patrick's children between 1870 and 1880 (based on their disappearance from all subsequent records that have been found), although no support for this hypothesis has been found.
In 1880 Patrick (age 43), Elizabeth (age 36), and children Teresa (age 9), Mary (age 6), Edith (age 3), and Margaret (age 0), and Patrick's brother Edward (age 45) lived in New Brunswick, Middlesex, New Jersey, United States. Patrick was employed as a boatman.[4]
Patrick was probably widowed or divorced between 1880 and 1883 (when he married again).
Patrick married Mary Carlin (shown as Carlan) August 6, 1883 in New Brunswick, Middlesex, New Jersey, United States.[5]
In 1885 Patrick, Mary, their daughter Anna, and Patrick's children Teresa (incorrectly shown as Larisa), Mary, Edith (shown as Ida), and Margaret (shown as Maggie) lived in New Brunswick, Middlesex, New Jersey, United States.[6]
In 1895 Patrick, Mary, their children Anna and Edward, and Patrick's children Mary and Edith lived in New Brunswick, Middlesex, New Jersey, United States.[7]
In 1900 Patrick (age 60), Mary (age 48), their children Anna (age 16) and Edward (age 14), and Patrick's daughter Mary (age 24) lived in New Brunswick, Middlesex, New Jersey, United States.[8]
In 1905 Patrick (age 55), Mary (age 50), their children Anna (shown as Annie, age 19) and Edward (age 18), and Patrick's daughter Mary (age 26) lived in New Brunswick, Middlesex, New Jersey, United States. William Yeagher (age 15) also lived with the family.[9]
In 1910 Patrick (age 70), Mary (age 51), their son Edward (age 23), and Patrick's daughter Mary (age 30) lived in New Brunswick, Middlesex, New Jersey, United States.[10]
Patrick died May 19, 1913 and was buried in Saint Peter's Cemetery in New Brunswick, Middlesex, New Jersey, United States beneath a stone shared with his wife Mary.[11]
