Margaret was born about 1858 in New Jersey, United States. Her parents were Patrick Farrington and Elizabeth Tutle.[1]
In 1860 Margaret (age 2) lived in New Brunswick, Middlesex, New Jersey, United States with her parents.[1]
In 1865 Margaret (shown as Margot) lived in New Brunswick, Middlesex, New Jersey, United States with her parents and younger sister Ann.[2]
In 1870 Margaret (age 12) lived in New Brunswick, Middlesex, New Jersey, United States with her parents and sisters Ann (age 9), Elizabeth (age 4), and Catharine (age 2). Her paternal uncle Edward (age 35) lived with the family.[3]
There appears to have been one or more family tragedies that claimed the lives of Margaret, Ann, Elizabeth, and Catharine between 1870 and 1880 (based on their disappearance from all subsequent records that have been found), although no support for this hypothesis has been found.
