He (probably) married Mary Polly (Walker?), August 23, 1821 in Columbia, Maury County, Tennessee. (See notes!)
He married Thursday Skipper (Skipworth), November 11, 1824 in Maury, Tennessee.
[1][2]
They moved from Maury, Tennessee to Muhlenberg, Kentucky sometime before 1850.
[3][4]
"Maury Democrat, 16 April 1908 - About fifty years ago Alexander Farris was struck on the head with a smoothing iron by his son, Claiborne Farris. His skull was fractured and he was rendered speechless. Dr. Smith came down from Columbia and with a circular instrument cut out eighteen small pieces of the skull. This, in a measure, restored his speech and he lived many years afterward."
He probably passed away before the 1880 US Census was taken.
Research Notes
It would appear till I find evidence to contrary that he was married to two woman at the same time.
He (?) married a Mary Polly "Owney" Walker (guessing LNAB from marriage contract), 23 Aug 1821 in Maury, Tennessee, United States.
And if the above Alex is the same person as this profile, he also married Thursday Skipworth, 11 Nov 1824 and moved them to Kentucky (while still married to Mary Polly back in Tennessee?).
A more likely possibility is that Mary Polly died much younger than thought (2-3 years into their marriage). If she died before November 1824, all of this makes much more sense.
A firm death date is currently UNKNOWN because the FindAGrave image has the name cut off on gravestone with no explanation or context. There is NO PROOF this is Mary Polly's grave. The current photograph is basically worthless. No explanation or context given (as usual). All it shows are some dates. No names or any other distinguishing details.
I have looked for something to explain this for hours today, but have found nothing. Both are showing same age. Both are showing birth location (census) as N Carolina. Both named Alexander/Alex Farris.
