Biography

Joab was born in 1797 Virginia.[1] He is the son of William Farthing and Tabitha (Blanks) Farthing.[2]

He married Elizabeth Farthing on November 16, 1823 in Pittsylvania county, Virginia.[3][4] Their children are:[5][6]

Wilson Farthing, (1825-1900).
Harriet Farthing, (1826-unknown).
Louisa Farthing Turner, (1827-1860).
John Wilson Farthing, (1827-1893).
Joel Farthing, (1832-1880).
Prudence Sarah Ann Farthing Jones, (1835-unknown).
James Farthing, (1840-1888).[7]
Tabitha E Farthing, (1842-1875).[8]

The 1850 census of Pittsylvania, Virginia[9] shows widowed Joab with the following children:

  1. Wilson 1825
  2. Harriett 1826
  3. Louisa 1827
  4. Joel 1832
  5. Prudence(Sarah in 1860) 1835
  6. James 1838
  7. Tabitha 1842

Joab died in 1885 still living in Pittsylvania county, Virginia. He was 88 years old.[1]
