Biography

Bartholomew Falconer (Faulkner) was born about 1794 to John Faulkner and Hulda Robinson. He married Sally Clark on 2 Jul 1802 in Warren County, NC. [1]

He appears in the 1810 United States Federal Census. At that time, he has three sons under 10, 1 daughter under 10 and both he and his wife are between 26 and 44. He appears again in the 1830 census living in Fosters County in Franklin, NC. He has 6 sons between the ages of under 5 and 20 and 29. He has 3 daughters between 10 and 19. He and Sally are both between 40 and 49. [2] [3]

He does not appear in the United States Federal censuses again until 1850. He is 60, has no occupation and is living in Franklin County with his daughter Thursday Weldin, 30, and grandchildren David Weldin, 8, and Betsy Weldin, 5. In the 1860 United States Federal census, he is 76 and still living in Franklin County, NC. His daughter Thursday, 47, is still living with him although she has dropped her married name. Their ages would appear to be incorrect as they both had aged 16 and 17 years, respectively, since the 1850 census. The 1860 census was enumerated on the 28th of July 1860. Since Bartholomew appears in no other censuses, his date of death would be after this date. The fact that Thursday Weldon, 45, appears in the 1870 United Federal Census living without her father, but with her son David and his family in Franklin County, NC, would seem to support his death falling after 28 Jul 1860 and before 1870.
