Henry Peter Faust was born Heinrich Peter Fäust on December 25, 1900, in Habitzheim, Hesse, Germany.
In the ship's manifest, when he immigrated to the US at the age of 22, it listed his father as Jacob Faust of Habitzheim Hessen. research notes
Faust Name Meaning
German, Jewish (Ashkenazic), and French (Alsace-Lorraine): from Middle High German fust ‘fist’, presumably a nickname for a strong or pugnacious person or for someone with a club hand or other deformity of the hand. German and French (Alsace-Lorraine): from a personal name (Latin Faustus, meaning ‘fortunate’, ‘lucky’, a derivative of favere ‘to favor’). This was borne by at least one Christian martyr.
