Rena was born Oct 1, 1878 in Ashe County, North Carolina to Isaac Faw and Sarah (Hartzog) Faw[1]. She married Robert Harless September 16, 1908 in Ashe County North Carolina[2]. They had two sons together, Marvin and Conley before Robert passed away in 1911, less than 3 years after their marriage. In 1920 Rena and her sons are living with her parents[3], then in 1930 she and the boys are living next door to them and her occupation is listed as a laundress[4]. In 1940, Rena is still working as a laundress. Her household is comprised of both her sons and their wives along with one granddaughter. Her mother Sarah lives next door with her brother Millegan and his wife[5]. Rena died June 28, 1973 in Ashe County at the age of 94[6].
