"George Redd of the County of Barkly and Colony of Virginia, Son of Adam Redd (and Meriam his wife decas'd) of Christiana Hundred, New Castle County, Pennsylvania [Del.?], and Rachel Fawcett, Daughter of John and Rebeckah Fawcett of the County of Frederick and Colony aforesaid; 15th day of 11th month, 1781; at Mount Pleasant." (Joint Committee of Hopewell Friends, Hopewell Friends History, 1734-1934, Frederick County, Virginia (Strasburg, Virginia: Shenandoah Publishing House, Inc., 1936), p. 275.) Note: Both George and Rachel signed the marriage certificate.[1]
