Parentage

Zebulon Pike Fawcett, born 1836 in Ohio, appears to be the son of Thomas and Susanna (Walker) Fawcett.

Hamilton County, Ohio, Presbyterian Church, “On the 23 of August [1827], Thomas Fawcett and Susanna Walker of Butler County. Returned.”[1] Butler County, Ohio, Record of Marriages, p. 243, Married on the 23d day of August 1827 by the Reverend David Macdill, Thomas Fawcett to Susanna Walker.[2]

Van Buren County, Iowa, p. 15, Susan Fawcett departed this life Intestate, on the 10th day of January 1864, being at or immediately previous to death a resident of Van Buren County . . . Letters of Administration granted Benjamin Walker, 22 February 1864.[5] Benjamin Walker apparently was Susanna's brother.

Susanna is buried at Bentonsport Cemetery in Iowa.[6] The Find A Grave contributor states: "Daughter of Samuel and Mary Walker. Married Thomas Fawcett on 23 August 1827 in Butler County, Ohio."

Zebulon and his apparent brother Benjamin are enumerated in Benjamin Walker's household. Benjamin Walker is said to be their maternal uncle.

Zebulon Pike Fawcett, born 13 February 1836 in Columbus [Franklin County], Ohio, married Laura Line 21 December 1884 at Pendleton [Umatilla County], Oregon.[13]

Zebulon Fawcett died 1896 in Lincoln County, Washington. His daughter Susan as the eldest surviving next of kin was appointed administratrix of his estate in 1903.

In the Matter of the Estate of Zebulon Fawcett, Deceased } No. 665 Letters of Administration.
Whereas Zebulon Fawcett on the 12th day of March 1896, died intestate, leaving at the time of his death property in this County.
Now, Therefore, we do hereby appoint Susan Fawcett administratrix upon said estate.
Witness C H Neal of our said Superior Court this 10th day of November 1903. Susan Fawcett, being first duly sworn, on oath depose and say: I am the person who has petitioned for Letters of Administration upon the estate of Zebulon Fawcett and who has been appointed administrator . . . I will faithfully perform, according to law, the duties of my trust . . . [signed] Susan Fawcett, 10 November 1903.[14]

  4. Ellen Fawcett born February 1892 in Oregon; probable namesake of her maternal grandmother, Ellen Line.
