Note NI421he moves from Hardwick with his father in 1762 to Benington, VT and was the first high sheriff elected in the county and in the state. he served in that office from 3-26-1778 until Oct 1781. he officiated it the execution of the Spy Redding who was the first executed in the state which took place June 1778 in the presence of a large crowed of people, among whom was the governor and members of the Council and General Assembly then in session in Bennington.
His wife Sarah Rovinson, after her husband died, married Gen Heman Swift of Cornwall, CT on 11-26-1790
