Biography

Birth

Norman Edwin Fay was born on 18 Dec 1868, the son of Norman Hatch Fay and Sarah Ann (Vestal) Fay.^[1] (The 1900 Census says he was born in California in December 1869,^[2] but all other records found support a December 1868 birth date.) In 1870, he was living with his parents at Vernon, California, at the age of two (and erroneously recorded in the census as "Norma E." Fay, female)^[3] and in 1880 he was living with his widowed father at El Monte, California, at the age of 11.^[4]

Marriage

Norman Edwin Fay, 28, of Compton, California, married Clara Harper, 20, of Downey California, at Downey on 17 Nov 1897.^[5] In 1900 Norman and Clara Fay were farming at Compton.^[2] In 1910, they were operating a dairy farm at San Antonio, California, with two servants.^[6] In 1920, they were farming at Chino, California.^[7] There were no children from the marriage.

Death

Norman E. Fay, 54, died in San Bernadino County, California, on 30 Mar 1923.^[8] His gravestone at the Bellevue Memorial Park in Ontario, California, is inscribed with the dates 1868-1923.^[9]
