George was born in 1847 the son of Charles and Ann (Hudson) He worked as an agrcultural labourer from an early age and while working in Leek Wootton Warwickshire met and married Eliza Clarke the daughter of a local farmer. They had their oldest child George in Warwickshire in 1867. In 1871 they were living in Leamington and in February 1874 emigrated to New Zealand arriving in Wellington in May 1874 in the ship La Hogue.. George died in 1922
He died about 1922 aged 75 years old. [1]
He was well known in Wellington as Headgardener of the Holmwood residence where regular functions were held and where he was respected for his gardening knowledge after 40 years tending the grounds. He entered his poultry in shows and served on the Cage Bird Society's committee He was a member of the Ancient Order of Foresters His obituary in the Wellington was quite extensive .
