Birth

Edward Earnest Fein was born at 5:30 p.m. on 15 July 1918 to Edward and Bessie of 1640 W 101st Place, Chicago Illinois. [1]

At this point the records of the CCC and Army show a birth year of 1917. Edward is not the first young man to lie about his age to join the service. It is interesting only in that the records were never corrected.

Edward Served in the Civilian Conservation Corp at Camp Custer, Michigan from August 30, 1935 - 29 April 1937 and again from 13 July 1938 - 13 April 1939 [2]

  • 13 May 1939 Enlisted in the U.S. Army at Detroit, Michigan
  • 23 August 1943 Honorably Discharged from U.S Army Rank of Sergeant[3]
  • 24 August 1943 Appointed Warrant Officer (jg) U.S. Army
  • 1 0ctober 1965 Edward Retired on permanent disability from the Army at the rank of Chief Warrant Officer W-4[4]
