Biography

In the 1850 census Hannah (age 4) was in Bangor, Penobscot, Maine, United States.^[1]

In the 1860 census Abbie (age 13) was in Bangor Ward 3 West Side Kenduskeag Stream, Penobscot, Maine, United States.^[2]

In the 1870 census Abbie (age 23) was in Bangor, Penobscot, Maine, United States.^[3]

In 1871, 1873, and 1875 she is listed in the Bangor City Directory employed as a teacher.^[4][5][6]

Abbie Fellows was listed in the Membership Register of the Bromfield Street Methodist Episcopal Church in Boston, Suffolk, Massachusetts, United States. She joined that church on 3 Oct 1880 by letter; the notes state she married Damon.^[7] She transferred her membership (receiving church not stated) by letter on 30 March 1890, soon after her marriage.^[8]

In the 1880 census Abbie (age 33) was the single other of Andrew Baker in Boston, Suffolk, Massachusetts, United States. She was working as a seamstress at The Home for Little Wanderers in Boston, considered the oldest US child welfare agency which began as an orphanage in 1799.^[9]
