Biography

No records have been found for Robert between the 1851 census in England and his marriage in 1873 in Victoria Australia. Descendants of his younger brother Peter where told he left for America in search of gold and was never heard of again. That may be possible, in which case he may have arrived in Australia via America. No confirmed immigration or passenger records have been found for him. He was only recorded as Robert Fenton on his baptism record. Middle name John only appears on his death record and is not proven. No record can be found of his birth, only birth records for his older sister Elizabeth 1837-1918 and younger brother Peter 1843-1916. Brothers John 1830-1889 and Robert 1833-1836 were born before registration began.
