Biography

Gainor was a Friend (Quaker)

Probably born in Frongoch, Merionethshire (now Gwynedd), Wales

Merion in the Welsh Tract has Gainor "living 6 March 1678-9"; I believe her youngest daughter was born about 1685. According to Thomas Glenn: She is supposed to have been the daughter of John Lloyd, Esquire, of Gwern y Brychdwn, in the township of Nant y Friar, and if so, was baptized in Lladderfel church 13 September 1629.[1]

Marriage and Children

Gainor married Owen ab Evan who was the third son of Evan Robert Lewis and together they had five children:

1) Robert ab Owen, born about 1657, married Rebecca Owen
2) Owen ab Owen
3) Evan ab Owen, who remained in Wales and did not immigrate with his siblings
4) Jane ferch Owen, who married Hugh Roberts
5) Ellin ferch Owen, married Cadwalader Thomas ap Hugh
Gainor signed the marriage certificate of her son, Robert Owen, 6th of first month (March 6), 1678. She appears to have died December 14th of the same year and was buried at Llanfor church on the 16th. [2]

Research Notes

Mother’s death, Ferch John -6 1678, is before birth of child, Ferch Owen-1 1685, and needs further research.

John-734 and Ferch John-6 appear to represent the same person because: Date & place of death is the same. Date of birth on John-734 is after date of death, estimate on ferch John-6 more likely. proposing merge into ferch John to match Welsh naming conventions.

Verch John-2 and Ferch John-6 appear to represent the same person because: matching name, and vitals; using "ferch John" as last name at birth per discussion on welsh names
