Rachael (Ferguson) Weir was born in Ireland.

Rachael Ferguson was born on the 11th September, 1840 at Ballynahone More, County Londonderry, Ireland. [1] She was the daughter of Andrew Ferguson, and lived at Ballygonny, County Londonderry as of 1869. [2]

Marriage

Rachael Ferguson married John Davidson Weir of Derryganard on the 22nd March, 1869 at Ballygonny Presbyterian Church, Arboe, County Londonderry. The witnesses were William W. Whan and Martha J. Collins. [3] [2]

Death

Rachael (Ferguson) Weir passed away on the 7th February 1904 aged 64, at Derryganard (Lisson Upper, Londonderry), in the registration district of Magherafelt, County Londonderry, Ireland. [4]

She had been in failing health for about two years. The funeral took place to Claggan Presbyterian Churchyard; the chief mourners were: [5]

Research Notes

The middle name Collins appears in her child Annie, and also grandchild via William, so perhaps that is an ancestral surname for Rachel.

The marriage record gives townland as "Ballygonny" however there are four adjacent townlands of that name. There was only one Ferguson household in the 1901 census, which was at Ballygonny More, parish of Tamlaght.
