Biography

Annie was born about 1839, the daughter of Thomas Ferguson, Esq., of Greenville, county Down, and Ballysillan, county Antrim, and Emma Benyon, formerly of Leeds, Yorkshire.[1]

When the 1871 census of England was enumerated, Annie was sharing a household with her sister, Mary:

- Mary C Simpson, head, widow, age 39, Annuitant, born in Ireland
- Annie G Ferguson, sister, unmarried, age 31, Annuitant, born in Ireland
- Emily I. Charles, servant, unmarried, age 35, Cook; born in Osmington, Dorset
- Susanna F. Clarke, do., ..., age 21, Ladysmaid; born in Northamptonshire
- Eliza Charles, do., ..., age 28, Housemaid; born in Osmington, Dorset
- Albert H Edwards, do., ..., age 24, Footman; born in Georgeham, Devon
- Census place: 26, Chester Street, St George Hanover Square, London[2]

On the 10th January 1880, Annie married Lieut.-Colonel Easton John Cox, recently retired from the 3rd (Buffs) Regiment of Foot, in St Michael's, Chester-square, in London.[3][4]

Captain Easton Cox, late of the 3d Buffs, and his bride, late Miss Annie Ferguson, of Greenville, county Down, have gone to spend the winter in the South of France. The wedding breakfast was given at the house of her brother, Lieutenant-Colonel Ferguson, Easton-square, who gave her away at the ceremony previously.[5]

Annie's and Easton's household was enumerated in the 1891 census of England as follows:

- Easton John Cox, head, married, age [66?], retired soldier, born at Oxford
- Annie Georgina, wife, married, age 50, born at Belfast
- Charlotte Hearn, servant, widow, age 41, born at Walmer, Kent
- Elizabeth Cornelius, servant, single, age 23, born at Ash, Kent
- Census place: Lynch House, Eastry, Kent[6]

Annie Georgina Cox née Ferguson died on the 2nd December 1899 at Petersfield, Hants, aged sixty years.[7][8]
