Stephen was the son of Andrew Ferguson and Delilah Veteto. He was born in 1848 in Jackson, Tennessee. He first married Mary Vinson about 1870 and they had 6 children. When Mary Frances died in 1883, Stephen married Polly Ann Jordan in 1886. This union produced 9 more children. When Stephen came to MO, he homesteaded on Suez Branch. He and his son James had a store and Post Office. He also had a grist mill on Suez Branch, which is called Dagonia now. His grandsons remember him always having a pocket full of apples. He passed away in 1932 and was laid to rest between his 2 wives in Polk Cemetery.
