Thank you for joining WikiTree. As a WikiTree Mentor I am available to answer any questions or help solve any issues you may be having.
How To Use WikiTree is a good place to start. It is a step-by-step-guide to WikiTree basics. Our Forum is searchable or you can post a question there. The Help Index is also an important place to find how to do most tasks.
It is very important that no duplicate profiles are created in WikiTree. Please read this page for clues on avoiding profile duplication.
Feel free to ask me via my profile page if you have any questions.
Thank you, Martain, for volunteering to help grow our worldwide family tree. The more ancestors you add the more likely cousins will find you and help through collaboration. :)
Our Honor Code, G2G message forum, help pages, search features, and many other useful links can be accessed from the menus on the upper right corner of most pages.
VERY IMPORTANT:
The more documents, sources, dates, and locations you provide on the profiles you create, the stronger your branches and our mutual global tree will be. If you don't know the correct date, please estimate using before or after.
Our mission is to build a global tree with just one profile per person, so please try very hard not to add any duplicates to our shared tree.
Hi. My name is Martain Ferguson. As the "4th", in a line of W. Martain Ferguson's, I have recently started doing some research re: the family history of our Ferguson "clan", and have gotten hooked. Much of the original information came from a family bible, and has grown from there. We have traced our family as far back as a Samuel Ferguson, born in 1780, but have not found any information on him, his wife, or other family beyond his son. I am excited to see what we may find, and would love to find connections with others on the site.
If you'd like to help grow our FREE worldwide family tree, please click the volunteer link and leave a message telling us so.
Otherwise, you're welcome to ask a question at G2G forum, review our 'Help' pages, or check out the 'Find' feature on the upper right hand side of the page to search for relatives.
The WikiTree Honor Code helps keep our community a happy place.
Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful.
Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies.
If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.
Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask via my profile page. ~ Terry~ WikiTree Mentor
