Biography
Hazel's parents died when she was very young. She then lived with her grandfather James and grandmother Martha Stiles in Allerton and Clio, Iowa where she received her education. They came to Phillips County in 1913 where she met Ralph L. Anderson. They were married November 11, 1914. To this union six children were born: Marjorie, Ralph Leland, Jr., Mary Belle, Bona Ruth, Deane, and Dale.
Ralph and Hazel farmed southeast of Holyoke until 1929 when they moved to town. She was a clerk at the local post office from 1929 to 1947. She joined her husband in the operation of the Gambles Store from 1948-1958 at which time they both retired, spending many winters in the south.
