Biography

Caspar was born in 1570. He was the son of Valerius Fiedler. He passed away in 1613.

Doctor of medicine; graduated Padua 1591 with degrees of philosophy and medicine; appointed court physician to the duke of Courland and city-physician at Riga in 1596; called to the post of court physician to the Emperor of Russia, Boris Godunov; came to Sweden in 1610 and became court physician to King Charles IX, and in 1612 to King Gustavus Adolphus.

He was accused, during his time in Russia, of being the principal cause of the death of Gustav Ericsson (son of King Erik XIV of Sweden).
