Henry Field was born in 1700 in Stafford County, Colony of Virginia. Henry passed away in 1763 in Orange County, Colony of Virginia. [citation needed] SEE: Note on Birth Place

Henry Field was a Lieutenant in the Colonial Militia of Spotsylvania County, Virginia.

In May 1730, the General Assembly decided to split the over-large St. George's Parish into two sections. St. Mark's Parish was created to include the territory above the line "from the mouth of the Rapid Ann to the mouth of Wilderness Run; thence up the said run to the bridge, and thence southward to the Pamunky River." On 1 January 1731, "freeholders and housekeepers" met at Germanna and elected twelve vestrymen, including Henry Field. Until 1734-5 St. Mark's Parish was in Spotsylvania County. On that date St. Mark's was included in the newly-created Orange County. On 18 December 1762 Henry Field and Benjamin Roberts were made churchwardens for Great Forks Church for the ensuing year. Until 8 April 1763 Henry Field served as vestryman for the church. On that date Henry Field, Jr., was chosen vestryman in the place of Henry Field, Sr. Philip Clayton was chosen to succeed Henry Field as churchwarden.[1]

On 18 May 1749 Henry Field was appointed Sheriff of Culpeper County. He, Robert Slaughter and Abraham Fields posted bond for his service.[2]

In 1756 and 1758 Henry Field represented Culpeper County in the House of Burgesses. He attended the Constitutional Convention from Culpeper County assembled 6 May 1776. [3]

1763. April 8th, "Wm. Ball was chosen vestryman in the room of James Pendleton, deceased, and Heniy Field, Jr., in the place of Henry Field, Sr., resigned. Philip Clayton was chosen to succeed Henry Field as churchwarden.

Henry was probably born in Stafford County about 1700, although it is known that he was in Spotsylvania County before 1730. Spotsylvania was formed in 1720-21 from Essex, King & Queen, and King William Counties.
