DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Jane by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Jane:
Curators and others at Geni say otherwise. I had them in the tree at one time but they have been worked on fairly extensively (but not completely). Presently, her father is set as Jeremiah Field (1730- 1821) and mother as Mary LNU (maybe Oliver).
Jeremiah's FAG: https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/38758284/jeremiah-field says:
The children of Jeremiah Field and Mary (Oliver?) were: Ruth Field (m. Abraham Elliott), Joseph Field, Benjamin Field (1768-1843, m. Mary Weatherly), Mary Field, Jane Field (m. Nathan Armfield), Elizabeth Field (c. 1785-after 1850, m. Robert Irwin), Tabitha Field (m. William M. Weatherley, moved to Alabama, then Yaoblusha Co., Miss.), Rachael Field (may have m. John Bartley), John Field (m. Hannah Ozborn), Jeremiah (d. between 1815 and 1818, m. Margaret), William Field (d. 1815, m. Ann "Nancy" Armfield).
FAG is a wonderful tool but each memorial is managed by individuals. Some have done extensive research and are well sourced. Some are not. I have learned this from daily use of them while working on genealogy.
I do not know for certain how accurate this particular one is since I have not spent a lot of time on it and so I have not pursued contacting the manager.
I think the researchers and Geni curators are going by her being named in the will of Jeremiah.
I am hopeful to continue work on this line soon as Jane Fields Armfield is my 5th great grandmother.
Hopefully the DNA will help
And it may be time to go ahead and talk about adding her mother the same here as mentioned in the FAG and Geni profile for Jeremiah being father of our Jane...
