A devout Baptist, he was commonly known as Elder Hi and Preacher Hi
He had 8 children including the direct ancestor of the creator of this profile (Travis Fields) and Ira Fields who was a Judge and Attorney in Whitesburg, Kentucky
His son Daniel David Fields also became a Judge and built "the Fields building" which still stands on Main Street in downtown Whitesburg, Kentucky.
His descendant Travis Fields has at least one photograph of him as an elderly man somewhere which he will upload when he finds it
15 more sources found at the familysearch.org site which show he was a Sergeant in the Civil War Veteran (USA so presumably Union Army) who later received a military pension. He served from August 1863 to December 1864.
He has a 2 page obituary visible on familysearch.org which is very difficult to read but it clearly lists 3 children on the front page including Ira Fields, M.C. Fields and Isaac W. Fields
