George was born in 1825. He was the son of Michael Fikes and Mahala Dean. He passed away in 1862.

George served in the Civil War; he was hospitalized for some time, but is said to have died in the Battle of Chicamauga.

Buried in the Salem Church Cemetery in North Perry, Perry County, Alabama.
