Madeleine was born in Saint-François-de-Sales, Île Jésus, Canada, Nouvelle-France in 1712, the daughter of Louis Filiatrault and Marie Anne Labelle, and baptised at St-François-de-Sales de l’Île-Jésus on 16 May[1].
In 1732 she married Pierre Peyet, also at St-François-de-Sales[2], and they had twelve or thirteen children together.
There is a record from 1757 for the burial of the wife of Pierre Peyet, and this is assumed to be for Madeleine[3].
