Jean Fillion est né le 31 octobre 1667, baptisé le 1er novembre à Québec, fils d'Antoine Filion et d'Anne d'Anneville.[1]

Après le décès de son père, selon Honorius Provost lui et sa soeur Antoinette sont adoptés par leur oncle Michel Fillion, chez qui on les retrouve au recensement de 1681:[2]
Michel Filion 44 ; Marguerite Aubert, sa femme, 65 ; domestiques : Thomas Langlois 26, Jean Filion 13, Antoinette 15 ; 1 fusil ; 1 pistolet ; 10 bêtes à cornes ; 25 arpents en valeur.[3] À noter qu'il y a erreur, le censeur a inclus Jean Fillion parmi les domestiques. Et Antoinette n'est pas sa soeur, elle a un nom de famille autre, qui se lit des nante (?)[4]

Jean Fillion, fils de feu Michel Fillion et d'Anne d'Anneville, épouse Françoise Sénard, fille de feu René Sénard et de Françoise Philippeaux, le 6 juin 1695 à Notre-Dame de Québec.[5]; erreur de prénom de son père, facile à comprendre, c'est son oncle Michel qui l'a adopté. Jean signe l'acte Jean Fillion, son épouse signe Fransoisse Senard.
